The opening ceremony of Alxa Desert Geopark kicks off today, according to China’s Ministry of Land and Resources.

 

Alxa Desert Geopark is located in the west of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. This Geopark covers a total area of 683.74 square km.

 

The park was declared a world geopark in August, 2009, which is currently the one and only desert world geopark in the world.

 

The park features lots of geo-heritages and landscapes, including Badain Jaran Desert (the second largest desert in China,) Tengger Desert, Juyanhai Lake, Ejin Gobi Landform, etc.
